Rumor, rumor, and more rumors. We Indians get a kick out of this stuff, dont we? This actually happened with me couple of weeks ago.
POE: San Francisco. I hold a completely different job compared to my Masters degree. I was asked what qualifications I have to hold a job in marketing when my background was technology. I gave an explanation and the VO looked up and smile. He said, you memorized your answers well. I said, I've been doing it for the last five years. He laughed and said, you guys are smart cookies. Have fun, summer is around. NEXT.
Note to people who like to spread Bullshit: Please STOP spreading horsemanure. Unless your paperwork is completely out of whack, no VO at the POE has the RIGHT/AUTHORITY to send you back. I spoke to an immigration lawyer at a party couple of months ago. He said deportation procedures are not that simple. The VO has to call DHS and Immigration Services. Once they take over the case, it takes 12 to 24 hours to do a background check. Until that time, the person is held in custody at the Airport. A decent bed and food is provided. If the documents check out incorrect then authorities in the home country are informed and so is the Embassy in United States. DHS and USCIS allow folks from (Indian embassy) to interview the candidate (potential value target: crime recod back home, etc). If the embassy decides that the documents were forged then it will send a memo to the Indian Airport and ask the Indian police to book a case after the person arrives. The process is much detailed than making a call to somebody's father or father-in-law and asking, DO YOU NEED XYZ for this job.
So all this is dino-dung. Stop wasting time at your desk and do something productive.

even if we could do population control, another thing we would need is a time machine to go back and implement the control with retroactive effect. is there anyone who has been working on a time machine? How is it coming? :D:D:D:D
USA is trying to build a time machine to go back 10-15 yrs and so they can fix the economy. Let us desi and our chinese brothers wait until the time machine is ready. We can then copy it and produce it in china and setup techical support center in India for these time machines. While doing so we will still wait in this GC queue while expecting our people back in our place to use the time machine because if we get on it we will be back in the place were we came from :D
Instead you can just buy a ticket and board a plane to our place. And you can still monitor the visa bulletin every month and also do prediction in this forum :cool:

I think you don't understand. USCIS has no control over the Visa bulletin. The reason India EB3 is doomed because of the percountry limitations set by DOS.
Congress need to change that rule not USCIS.

I think this is a time to start another flower campaign to USCIS. It is ridiculuous to have 7 years of retrogression on EB3 India, same is true to good extend for EB2 India also.

Got GC for me and for my wife.
It was a long frustrating wait time.I am glad its over now. My best wishes to those that are still waiting.
No RFE at any stage, straight forward case, one time took infopass to just find out the status. Total Wait time 5 and half years.
Here are the dates:
I received the card order production mail on 9 June 2008.
Received the welcome letter on 13th June.2008
Received the Card on 16th June.
PD: June 2001 - EB2- India
I 484 applied on 28 th June 2007 - NSC.
Finger print on Aug 26 th. 2007- NSC.
Sep 26 Got EAD. 2007 - NSC.
Original Labor - Sep 2002, Approved in 2006
Labor substitution on May 1st week. 2007 - NSC.
140 approved on May 2nd week. 2007
Joined fulltime April 3rd week, 2008. New employer applied H1 and received.
I have not sent AC21 letter.
No LUD after finger print.
GC Card received- 16 June 2008, me and spouse.

I actually don't think this is the main concern of many people who have not contributed. I have talked with many friends who got stuck with their GC applications regarding IV and urged them to contribute. However, not many of them were very passionate about this. They just simply believed that they could not achieve their GCs faster with IV's effort than without. $20 per month is not a big deal for them. But without any confidence and hope, they did not even want to bother to register and contribute. Most of my friends are EB2 with PD 2004 or later. Some who have filed 485s see no sign for SKIL being passed and are fine with their APs and EADs. Those who have not filed their 485 truly believe that they could file their 485s in about 2 years and got used to this waiting.
So I think maybe we can let people know what IV has achieved in the past one year(not just how many members or how much money IV has achieved..., but things really matter to people) and inspire them.

I joined IV recently and I visit IV website several times a day. Few days back I had the patience to search and read earlier forum discussions on IV and immigrationportal. I read the forum threads in which it was discussed how IV delivered all the amendments in the last year Senate bill. What more results do these people want? I admit that I don't understand all the amendments and all the provisions that IV got for us in the Senate bill. But isn't it a big deal to simply organize in the matter of few months and then get our provisions passed in the Senate. What more results should we expect to judge IV? The only other result is when IV will get all our amendments in the next immigration bill that will be passed by the congress. By then, it would be too late for these people, who refuse to participate at this time. And I don’t plan to wait for them. So I just signed up for $50/month monthly subscription. More importantly, my wife and I will request all our friends to sign-up for monthly subscription.

I spoke with the immigration guy at my ex employers place. My 140 was indeed revoked. He doesnt know the date when it was revoked. He is certain the 140 sponsoring employer is willing to employ me. This means I can get an Employment Verification Letter from him.
Will this cause a concern with USCIS as
1. This company applies for 140
2. Revokes an approved 140 when employee quits
3. Is again willing to offer the job
Should I take AC21 route instead as I have an offer with the company B.
If your ex-employer already revoked I-140, how can he give employment verification letter now? He is saying that he is no-longer intend to employ you in the revokation , on the other hand he is giving offer letter now. It is contradictory; it will appear to CIS that you & your employer is doing fradulant practice. If the I-140 was already revoked, then there is no use from it, unless if it is revoked after 180 days of your 485 pending. If it is revoked after 180 days, you can use your new employment to port the job based on AC21 to keep the 485 valid. Otherwise forget it.

For example, if you think IV needs 10K in the next week, start a thread with that heading. Whoever is willing, will make additional one time contributions apart from their recurring contributions.

Such an action would be illegal, but CIS has already stopped accepting I- 485 applications for another category known as "Other Workers," despite June Visa Bulletin showing that category is current. My advice to all of you is keep filing all through the month of July. For all we know, they may never issue such an illegal policy or they might lose a lawsuit filed against them. So keep filing.

You can keep writing to congressmen, ombudsman, push for visa recapture in lame ducks, ask for more transparency into the process but please don't send any flowers now and try to embarrass any govt organization directly. We don't know what effect its going to have.Instead go through the Ombudsman to voice your concerns.Finally, please get the consent of core IV before you attempt this.
We really, really want EB2/3-I folks, especially those who have been waiting for 5 years or more, to get out of this gc process as painlessly as possible.
