I am very confused with the entire Green Card process. Any help will be much appreciated. I will give a background.
I have an experience of almost 6 years and work in an reputed Indian IT firm on H1B for a US bank. I am working in US on H1B for past 4 years. My wife is doing an MBA from a reputed US university on H4 visa.
What Employment Based Green Card category am I eligible for? How long does it take to get EAD approval from the beginning of the process? Can my wife work only after the EAD is approved?

If you research more you will find that Tata steel is currently one of the largest steel makers in the world after acquiring corus.
Infosys might aquire capgemini/ernst and young soon making it to compete directly with IBM and EDS for high level consulting business
Chrysler might be sold to tata motors
etc etc
Earlier goverment policy was inhibiting indian businesses in india as well as globally
Now the policy is changing and indian business are thriving both at home and internationally.
They are looking to hire the top talent paying top money.
Thats why its in the indian govt's interest that the GC / immigration process is skewed up here :) so that its best people come back and paricipate in the economy back home

Actually being a Defence employee is a positive. You can show proof of stronger connection to home country because of following.
1) Pension that is available every month for life.
2) Free treatment at Army Hospitals.
3) Subsidised cost at Military Canteen facilities for provisions etc.

you can use either H1 or AP to enter US. Buf if you want to bring your wife u should be on H1 so that she can come on H4...beware that when AP is pending do not leave US otherwise it is consider as abondon of your AP...

I think you need to apply for a labour certification a year before a completion of 6 year of H1 period for 7th year extension but in perm you get labour certified within 2 months. Even if you start now you can get your labour and I140 (in premium processing) done before DEC. After then you can leave back to home country and still continue the process as future emplyoment.
I don't know if you become eligible for 7th year extension.

I presently have insurence through my employer. My understnading is that, insurence stops the day I leave the present employer. Now how do i handle the stop gap in insurence to be on safer side...??

I could find this useful. I am in my 6th year expiring June 1, 2007. My employers are just about to file LC, so I guess being able to process I140 by premium will enable me file for a three year extension before my current stay expires.
May be they did it for those who are in 6th year and did not file LC 365 day before 6 year expiry.. Now they can file LC in perm get approval fast and then get Premium 140 to get 3 year extension on H1B.

My I 485 was filed on 07/12/2007 in EB2. My priority date in Feb26 2007.
I am working on EAD now, which is valid through 07/06/2012.
I have got a job offer from one of the top fortune 500 company recently. They are offering the job with a role of "Lead Technical Architect".
Following are the details from my labor:
Job Title: Programmer/ Analyst/Systems, Software/Engineer/Developer, or Related to IT
Reponsibility:
develop, create and modify general computer application software. Analysis user needs and design, develop software solutions. Design, develop, analyse and implement software and end user product. Coordinate various account projects with IT consultants; nurture close relationship with the major account customers by providing quality technical support and apply principles of computer science, engineering and mathematical analysis.
From the generic nature of the role resonsibility, I feel that the "Lead technical Architect" role will not be a misfit with the requirement of "Similar resposibility".
Can you kindly let me know if you see any violation of the EAD porting requirement in terms of similar responsibilities?

Now I have seen many people filed on June 2007 get GC approvals. Now onwards their number is keep on increasing. Please put your details on this thread to see the trend. I think all Jun 2007 filers will get GC for the 2008 quota. Provided their I-140 is approved and NC is cleared.

when he contacted senator and inturn they contacted USCIS, Senator got same reply as urs . his is also 2005 EB2 I PD. He is just waiting too.
i wonder what that extensed security review means. looks like never ending. hope no one gets stuck in it.

My H1-B expires in Oct-2009. So my wife's H4 visa & I-94 are valid till Oct-2009.
I am applying for my H1 extension. I am attaching my wife's H4, I-94 with the extension.
She may have to go to INDIA in June and come back within a month. As she gets a new I-94 which will be valid for 3-4 months till Oct-2009 & her old I-94 is sent for extension, do i have to do anything else after that?
How does it work? Did anyone went through similar scenario?
