This is great news for the families of the victims of 9/11. Also, even though it took a long time, we finally got that bastard.

There's nothing wrong in celebrating the death of an evil scumbag who was responsible for over 3000 deaths.

    Yes, I chanted USA!

    Obama's speech was excellent.

Once someone 'proves' that installation into your System folder, NOT your user space, can be done without an Administrative account THAT will be newsworthy. Making Safari launch a certain web page can be done with preference/.plist files. These are in the USER space. I have yet to see or hear about a compromise of Mac OS X 10.4.8 that does Administrative tampering using a non-admin account (without physical access to the machine). Now I, and many others have submitted feedback to Apple that they have to include, in initial setup of a Mac system, the requirement of setting up a non-admin account. This is security 101 and something neither MS or Apple currently requires. Once you are an Admin all bets are off. We have all seen the installers that you double click and don't require a password to install. Scary. Apple needs to REMAIN diligent on security, but they are not totally lax like some suggest.

    just my .02

I like your idea and I think it would work in many situations if there is indeed going to be a "transition phase" toward a new type of connection format. However, I'll stick by my prediction as it offers the maximum benefit for Apple and its third party partners while keeping the whole user interaction simpler and more elegant. The Nike situation is different in the respect that it is really the only way to make a product like that workcan't have a bunch of wires getting in the way of running. I know the iPod Hi-Fi probably isn't selling well enough for Apple to worry that a new connection format would hurt their own profit margin much, but there are a LOT of third party partners out there that have only recently given it their best because Apple has probably assured them that the dock connector will be around for quite some time, so third party R&D won't be a black hole or recurring expense in that area. It is what has helped the accessory market evolve to the point it has, which has benefitted Apple immensly-don't think Apple doesn't realize that fact! It is also what is missing from the also-ran MP3 manufacturers: not enough consistency to make it worth their investment to produce for those products.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Of course, it COULD have both....

    how about

a 30 $ optional wireless receiver that acts as a female dock connector to plug into the existing iPod docks?

But my point is that even if we get a 40% boost in our CPU, it is near useless.

For example, lets say you have 100/100 in a test. Having a theoretical 40% boost will give you a 140/100. I mean, thats cool. Overkill. That is currently the CPU we have. We have enough to accomplish our tasks, and any more would be an overkill in the things we need our computer to process.

On the other hand, on the GPU side, you have a 80/100 (which is what the NVIDIA 320m is) and we see a 30% performance drop, that will result to a 42.5/100. At lower levels, difference between a 80/100 and 42.5/100 is the difference between a pass and a fail.

Of course, having a better CPU might be fulfilling to you and might give you the sense that you are the "latest in tech," but seriously, it is not about the CPU any more, it is about SSDs, ergonomics, GPU, and ultimately, Software.

    +1

I agree. I think the 'gain' in processor speed will be hard to notice. But for many of us, the 'drop' in gpu performance (which is already marginal with the 320m) will be deadly.

For the 5 years or so of owning a Mac, I have not come across any breach of security by attacks from viruses from the Internet. Some safe guards to use firewall with a router, limiting ports, and so forth are pretty basic. I've had good luck using a very strong password with a combination of alphanumeric characters and underscores. Although one time, I connected onto an outside network and when I went to browse inside my secret porn folder, I found a pic that wasn't mine. Someone must've copied it into my hidden folder and labeled it myfav.jpg. Very odd, but that was the only time its ever happened.

Most of these Mac attacks seem to be more predominant with social engineering hacks and user error, than comprised code.

I meant a source for your ideas of how those involved in Al-Qaeda branded cells viewed Osama as invincible.

How could that be when it is well known the man has messed up kidneys and needed ongoing medical care as well as dialysis?

It sounded more to me like you think that is how members view him.I think they assumed that the US would never find and kill him. He probably told his followers that and they probably believed him

I don't understand one thing. Why can't Apple confirm this themselves? That way people will at least know what they can do. Either you wait or you move onto to another device.

because if apple is going to say a new iphone is coming, only a fool will buy the old one at full price

i bet a new is coming in June but apple doesn't want to see a sales drop off. anyone that asks me i tell them that expect a new one in June and don't buy the 4 since it's stone age tech by now

Wow, it's entertaining how some people are whining that this won't be free. You really think Apple spent tens of millions of $$ (at a minimum) on a 12 Petabyte data center just to give the service away?

Thats some good exposure and framing. Also really good for a built-in flash too. How is that lens? Do they have a Canon version? That'd have some long reach on my Canon crop. Looks like it takes good pictures too!

My understanding is they are considering Rob Lowe as a replacement

Hmmm... Really. That would be interesting but he doesn't have the same feel as a Charlie Sheen IMHO. That might be interesting thou.
