I did refered earlier in this forum ,about www.givemeinsurance.com , a desi agent deals with Farmers Insurance in Texas only.
I got mine and my wife insurance with him for $15 a month covering 250K Term Life insurance ( We are on H1 )

Albeit silly.... I was thinking, Ok... at least now folks here will realize that not in IT but Indians are talented/can shine is many fields and that's the way it is. The reality being there are more talented people in that country who never got chance global recognition (until the ice was broken by the IT industry)... Lately i see a lot of new members coming up in the forum, with lots of questions about their problems that they are facing. And lots of good hearted IV members also give their diligent answers for them. One hand I am glad IV is getting new members, on the other hand i am wondering where were these members all these days.
Please don't get me wrong, As much as I like new members joining in the forum to get answers for their questions, I also would expect them to take part in any the activities or initiatives that IV is undertaking. Therefore I urge, every new member to volunteer in the IV activities and be an active member of IV and be a participating member, so that IV helps you and you help IV. Having said that, new members, WELCOME TO IV, post your questions and I am sure you will get good answers from many good hearts in IV.

You are not the only one....my application was also sent on July 2nd and I got FP notices (both my wife and I) and AP approved (both my wife and I).
My wife received EAD on 10/22 and so far there has been absolutely no update on my LUD and EAD application is still pending. The service center is Nebraska and I am the primary applicant. I think there a a lot of people in the same boat.
Good (and sorry) to know someone in similar situation. My spouse's EAD was also approved on 11/15.

Trust me my friend, I have seen it happen all the time, from large Telecom firm to Govt., its always there, most of the consultants just doesn't come to know about it, but the cut for the managers is there in some form, almost always. Why do each manager has a specific vendor through whom they want to hire most of the time? What else is the reason for the client to pay the consulting company $180/hr but they won't give 'valueablehurdle' anything more than $50-60/hr?
On a different note, now that NSG approved the waiver, most desi uncles, some of them are also owners of desi consulting companies will claim that they are the father of Nuclear deal. These bastards (sorry for my french) always oppose any GC fix and they tell their favorite congressman/senator (each has atleast one favorite politician for whom they do fund raisers) that gc backlog is not an important issue for the community. India Abroad, Times of India, rediff and other desi portals/newspapers will write 'Oliver North' style stories about these desi uncles knowing well that companies like GE etc put their weight behind the deal as it will create commerce to commerce over $20 billion/yr. But desi uncles/orgs will not stop claiming to be the father of nuclear deal. The fact is, most of these desi uncles made noise not because they wanted to do something for their country of birth, they are doing it because they think that if the nuclear deal passes, they can play middle man for US companies to sell the technology/material to Indian companies/govt. Most of the so called 'united voice of Indian-Americans on the Hill' organization's goal is to make big bucks by playing 'middle man' for companies wanting to sell technology to India. I have listened to a couple of speaches by Bernake in NPR. Basically that guy is completely in the blank on how to handle the economy. He simply says, we are in this mess, because the lenders were very lenient. Fed measures such as interest rate cut and pumping money into the banking system is causing the dollar to fall thus further weakening the economy.
I say, we all write to Bernake that some 10, 000 immigrants will buy homes if we all get a GC. 10, 000 may or may not buy a home, but let us just polish the numbers a little bit. 10,000 * 300,000 (average home price) = 1 million billion dollars . Actually the total figure is 3 billion $$; enough to give a massive jolt to the sagging economy. I think we should also write to Wall Street journal and all major news paper organizations about this.
In America, people gets recognized when they offers a solution for a problem faced by the country. Whiners are (who write to Bush or Senators) do not get noticed nor are respected.

On a similar note, I just learned that my lawyer filed my application today. Her reasoning being very similar to that of Vin_a_99’s.
I am one of the skeptics, and do not believe this lawsuit will do any good from CIS front, but I will throw my hat in the ring as I believe at the very least this will bring our issue to light.
On a side note, since my application is filed, I am now eligible for company reimbursement for all my expenses…great news and its Friday…lots of pints coming up.:)

I agree with jonty and nixtor...that was the point I put out as a counter during our discussion. But the underlying sense is similar to what is there for illegal immigration: border fence. Humanitarian grounds is not an excuse you could use it with Congress men and women. Revamping Maths and Science in US schools is the exact justification against highskilled_immigration. Just like the border fence for illegal immigration, I wonder the issue in waiting against our efforts for fixing retrogression of highskilled immigration would be 'Show US born could start their training and educaction first' ...
Again, my visa number too is retrogressed too and I am not doing a kaka here to throw water on flames of enthusiasm but reporting my followup with some loud-noise-makers in DC.. The posting was infact to show what we are against and how much we all need to do.
